How DKScore Calculates Vedic Horoscopes

Transparency about our chart engine, data sources, and editorial process.

Chart calculation

Every birth chart on DKScore is computed using the classical sidereal Vedic system. Planetary longitudes are calculated from the Lahiri ayanamsha, with the standard nine grahas — Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu — plotted across twelve houses and twelve signs. We use the Whole-Sign house system for the rashi chart and standard varga (divisional) charts including the Navamsa (D9) and Dashamsha (D10).

Birth-data sources

For celebrity profiles, birth date, time, and place are sourced from publicly available reference databases (including Astrodatabank where applicable) and cross-checked against published interviews and verified biographies. Where a Rodden rating is available it is surfaced alongside the chart, and the scale is set out in full below so readers can assess the data quality themselves. We don't fabricate birth times; profiles where time is unknown render the sun-sign-only sections and explicitly skip the ascendant-dependent sections.

The Rodden rating scale

Birth data is only as good as its source. We use the Lois Rodden rating system — the standard classification used by Astrodatabank and by astrologers worldwide — which codes every record by where the information came from and whether primary documentation exists. The rating shown on a profile is the rating of its birth data, not a judgement of the person.

Primary source ratings

Backed by a primary source. These are the tiers we prefer for precise chart work.

AA
Absolutely Accurate — Verified birth time and date taken from official state birth records, a birth certificate, or a family record in the original logbook.
A
Accurate — Quoted from the native's own memory, or from family, friends, or close associates who were present at the birth.
B
Biography — Birth details sourced from a published biography or autobiography.

Secondary and unverified ratings

Usable, but either the original source or the birth time itself is missing.

C
Caution — No official source is given — the data rests on a generic reference or a secondary account such as an unverified anecdote.
X
Date Only — The date of birth is known, but there is no reliable information about the time of day, so ascendant- and house-dependent readings can't be relied on.

Problematic ratings

Sources conflict, or the data is hypothetical. Speculative data leads to false conclusions, so we flag it rather than hide it.

DD
Dirty Data — The data comes from third-rate sources, or two or more equally reliable sources give contradictory dates or times.
XX
Speculative — The birth date and time are unknown or hypothetical — derived from an astrologer's rectification rather than a recorded event.

For serious chart work, practitioners prioritise AA and A. We show the lower ratings rather than hiding them: speculative or conflicting data leads to false conclusions, and you can only weigh a reading if you know what it rests on. Profiles with no rating at all show no rating — we don't guess one.

Numerology

Numerology numbers (Birth, Destiny, Soul, Personality, Kabbalah) are computed from the date of birth and the full legal name where both are available. We use the Chaldean and Pythagorean systems in parallel and report both where they diverge.

Editorial process

Insight sections — including the per-profile FAQ, the Astrology Insights blocks, and yearly outlooks — are drafted from chart data using a structured template, then reviewed by astrologers on our panel before publishing. Each pilot profile shows the reviewing astrologer's name in the E-E-A-T strip near the top of the page. Insights are revised as our astrologers refine them; the "Last Updated" date reflects the most recent editorial pass on that specific profile.
