American tennis player; U.S. champion 1923-25, 1927-29 and 1931; Wimbledon champion 1927-30, 1932-33, 1935 and 1938. She was the author of three books on tennis. Helen was the daughter of a surgeon and was raised in Centerville, in Alameda County, California. She grew up in high society and learned tennis by watching players at the Berkeley Tennis Club; she never took a lesson. She began playing tennis at 14 and a year later won the girls’ national title. Moody’s on-court stoicism earned her the nickname, "Little Miss Poker Face." She had a strong will and powerful strokes, which helped her compile a winning record matched by few. At 17, in 1923, she won the U.S. women’s singles championship. She won the Olympic gold medal in Paris in 1924, was named Associated Press’ female athlete of the year in 1935 and inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1959. During her remarkable career, Moody won 31 major titles. In addition to the U.S. Championships and Wimbledon, she won the French Championship four times. She amassed a 158-match winning streak, and did not lose so much as a set from 1927 to 1932. Moody’s admirers included many backyard tennis enthusiasts in the Los Angeles acting community of the 1930s and 1940s. Charlie Chaplin said that the most beautiful thing he had ever seen was "…the movement of Helen Wills playing tennis." Her three books included her autobiography, "15-30: The Story of a Tennis Player," published in 1937. In 1997, the year before her death, she donated all of her trophies and tennis memorabilia to U.C. Berkeley, her alma mater. After her retirement from tennis, she acquired a reputation for aloofness and reclusiveness. She returned to the San Francisco Bay Area and continued to closely follow the game. Moody divorced her first husband, Frederick Moody, in 1937 and married top-notch Irish polo player Aiden Roarck two years later. She then became known as Helen Wills Moody Roarck. Following failing health for several years, Moody died on 01/01/1998 at Carmel Convalescent Center. There are no known survivors. Her ashes were scattered at sea, and there was no service. In Vedic astrology, the Natal Lagna or Ascendant represents the self, personality, and physical body. When the Lagna is in Leo, the individual is often characterized by strong leadership qualities, confidence, and a charismatic presence. Leo is ruled by the Sun, which imbues the native with a sense of pride, ambition, and a desire to be in the spotlight. These individuals often possess a regal demeanor and prefer to take charge in various situations. They are typically generous, creative, and enjoy being the center of attention. The Magha Nakshatra, which occupies the early degrees of Leo, adds a layer of ancestral pride and tradition to the native's personality. Ruled by Ketu, Magha is associated with a strong sense of duty, respect for heritage, and a connection to one's roots. Natives with this placement often feel a deep responsibility towards family and tradition, and they may seek to honor their ancestors through their actions and achievements. The placement of the Lagna lord, the Sun, in the 2nd house in Virgo sign and Hasta Nakshatra further nuances the individual's character and life path. The 2nd house relates to wealth, speech, family values, and self-worth. Having the Sun here suggests a strong focus on financial stability and a desire to accumulate wealth. It also indicates a powerful voice and the ability to influence others through speech. Virgo, ruled by Mercury, brings practicality, analytical skills, and attention to detail, suggesting that the native approaches financial matters with precision and discernment. In Hasta Nakshatra, ruled by the Moon, there is an emphasis on creativity, craftsmanship, and skillful hands. This placement suggests an individual who is resourceful and adept at turning ideas into tangible outcomes. The combination of the Sun in Virgo and Hasta Nakshatra indicates a person who can effectively manage resources and work diligently towards their goals, often achieving success through meticulous planning and execution. Overall, this astrological configuration suggests a person who is confident, connected to their heritage, and driven to achieve financial and personal success through hard work and effective communication.

For a Leo ascendant, the Sun rules the 1st house, which represents the self, identity, and personal vitality. When the Sun is placed in the 2nd house in Virgo, it brings focus to matters of wealth, family, and speech. The 2nd house also relates to values and resources. Virgo, an earth sign ruled by Mercury, emphasizes practicality, diligence, and attention to detail. When the Sun is positioned in Virgo in the Hasta Nakshatra, it underscores qualities such as skillfulness, dexterity, and a penchant for service. Hasta is symbolized by a hand, signifying craftsmanship and the ability to manifest ideas into reality. This placement suggests that the individual may possess a practical approach to financial matters, valuing precision and organization in their dealings. There is potential for success in fields requiring detail-oriented work, such as accounting, writing, or editing. The conjunction with Mercury, the ruler of Virgo, further enhances these traits. Mercury's influence brings intellectual sharpness, communication skills, and adaptability. This combination can result in a person who is articulate, persuasive, and skilled in negotiations. The native may find themselves drawn to professions involving communication, teaching, or commerce. Mercury's presence also supports the analytical and methodical nature imparted by Virgo and Hasta. However, this conjunction can also lead to over-analysis or self-criticism, given Virgo's critical nature. The native might need to guard against being overly meticulous or perfectionistic, which can lead to stress or dissatisfaction. Overall, this placement offers a blend of leadership (Sun) and analytical prowess (Mercury), potentially leading to success in areas that require both strategic vision and attention to detail. The focus on the 2nd house suggests a life path where the acquisition and management of resources play a significant role, with the potential for building wealth through meticulous planning and effective communication.

In Vedic astrology, analyzing the position of the Moon in a natal chart can provide significant insights into an individual's emotional well-being and mental state. For a Leo ascendant, the Moon rules the 12th house, which is associated with themes of isolation, subconscious mind, expenses, losses, foreign lands, and spiritual pursuits. When the 12th lord Moon is placed in the 6th house, it creates a Viparita Raja Yoga, which can bring unexpected gains through adversities. In this scenario, the Moon is situated in Capricorn, a sign governed by Saturn, known for its disciplined, practical, and somewhat reserved nature. Capricorn's influence can lend the individual a serious and responsible attitude towards matters related to the 6th house, which includes health, daily work routines, debts, and enemies. The placement of the Moon here can indicate a strong focus on managing these areas efficiently, often through hard work and perseverance. Moreover, the Moon is positioned in the Uttar Ashada Nakshatra, which is associated with qualities like determination, leadership, and the ability to achieve success through consistent effort. This nakshatra's influence can enhance the individual's capability to overcome obstacles and achieve victory over enemies or competitors. It also suggests a potential for success in legal matters or disputes. However, the 6th house is also associated with health issues, and the Moon's placement here might indicate susceptibility to stress-related health problems, especially those related to digestion or mental health. The individual may need to actively manage stress and maintain a balanced lifestyle to mitigate these potential challenges. Emotionally, this placement could lead to feelings of isolation or emotional distance, as the Moon, representing the mind and emotions, is caught between the energies of the 12th and 6th houses. The person might find solace in spiritual practices or activities that allow them to connect with their subconscious, thus achieving inner peace. Overall, while this placement presents challenges, it also offers opportunities for growth and success, particularly through disciplined effort and a strategic approach to overcoming life's obstacles.
