American screen actress and producer who has received numerous accolades, including two Academy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, and two BAFTA Awards. Her 2001 performance as Bridget Jones in Bridget Joness Diary earned her an Academy Award nomination, with another nod from the Academy for her role in the film adaptation of the musical Chicago in 2002. An Oscar for Best Supporting Actress was given to her for her scene-stealing portrayal of Ruby Thawes in Cold Mountain (2003). She reprised her role as Bridget Jones in two equally successful sequels (2004, 2016). Her portrayal of Judy Garland in the 2019 biopic Judy won her the Academy Award for Best Actress.
