Buck John Biography

New Zealand vintner, the first person in the New Zealand wine industry to ever be awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Lincoln University for his contribution to the industry, given at a ceremony on 4/27/2001. He was also awarded a New Zealand Commemoration Medal in 1990, an OBE in 1995 and a Fellowship of the Wine Institute of New Zealand in 2000. Buck purchased Te Mata Estate Winery in 1974 after earlier years in wine retailing and wholesaling and study in Britain and Europe. Ancestrally it is New Zealands oldest and largest winery. In his book, "Take a Little Wine," Buck stated his belief that New Zealand wines are perfectly able to stand on their own merits internationally, and he proves it by exporting his wine to 17 overseas markets. Known in the industry as a great visionary who also has a remarkable ability to get things done, John Buck set out in the late 1970s to make great red wine. He did it and established the standard for everyone else in the industry. Besides his wide involvement in community affairs and the arts, Buck initiated the Hawkes Bay Charity Wine Auction to fund the local hospice, Cranford. He initiated and sponsored the New Zealand Poet Laureate scheme; he has commissioned work by leading New Zealand artists; he hosts opera productions at Te Mata; he is a past member of the Hawkes Bay Regional Development Council and a past member of the Hawkes Bay Rugby Union, of which he was Advisory Board Chairman and a director.

Buck John birth chart analysis for Ascendant

In Vedic astrology, having a natal lagna (ascendant) in Pisces places a significant emphasis on intuition, creativity, and a compassionate nature. Pisces, ruled by Jupiter, is a water sign associated with depth of feeling and an innate connection to the spiritual or mystical realms. Those with Pisces rising are often seen as empathetic, imaginative, and sometimes elusive. Revati nakshatra, where this Pisces ascendant falls, is associated with prosperity, protection, and nurturing. Ruled by Mercury, Revati is symbolized by a drum and is often linked to journeys, both physical and spiritual. Individuals with their ascendant in Revati may possess a gentle and caring demeanor, often inclined towards helping others and engaging in creative or artistic pursuits. In this scenario, the lagna lord Jupiter is placed in the 3rd house in Taurus within Mrigasira nakshatra. The 3rd house signifies communication, courage, siblings, and short travels. With Jupiter here, there is an expansion of intellectual pursuits and a strong inclination towards learning and sharing knowledge. This placement can also suggest a philosophical or optimistic approach to communication and relationships with siblings or close acquaintances. Taurus, an earth sign ruled by Venus, brings a practical and sensual quality to Jupiter's expansive nature. This combination can manifest as an appreciation for beauty, art, music, and the finer things in life, balanced with a grounded and realistic outlook. Mrigasira nakshatra, ruled by Mars, is characterized by a quest for knowledge and exploration. It symbolizes curiosity and the pursuit of truth. With Jupiter in Mrigasira, there is likely a restless desire for understanding and discovering new philosophies or spiritual insights. This placement enhances the inquisitive nature, making the individual a seeker of wisdom and an effective communicator. Overall, this astrological configuration suggests a harmonious blend of intuition, creativity, and intellectual curiosity. The individual is likely to be compassionate, communicative, and driven by a quest for deeper understanding and artistic expression, with a grounded and pragmatic approach to life.
