Austrian consciousness researcher and parapsychologist. He was a close associate of Hans Bender at his institute for psychology and psychohygiene in Freiburg im Breisgau. He explores abnormal mental phenomena (AMP), the cultural background of the so-called spiritual impulse. He undertook experimental lab research and fieldwork on questions of magical effects among the shamans of indigenous societies in Mexico, the Philippines and India. In addition to numerous publications in scientific journals, he is the author of many books, including the international bestsellers Das Jesus-Komplott (The Jesus Conspiracy) and Der Ur-Jesus (The Ur-Jesus).
