Who is Hallinan Terence?

American politician and lawyer, who served as the 26th District Attorney of San Francisco from 1996 to 2004. His practices and rulings were often controversial. Hallinan had a propensity for fistfights in his youth. In 1963, he joined the civil rights movement in the South and was arrested in Mississippi for registering black voters. He was a defence attorney for 20 years. He graduated from UC Berkeley in 1960 and Hastings School of Law in 1964. He was admitted to the California Bar on 3 January 1967. Elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1988 and 1992, he served seven years and then resigned when he was sworn in as District Attorney on 8 January 1996. He was re-elected as District Attorney in 1999 and in 2003. Hallinan grew up in a 22-room mansion in Ross, California. At age twelve, he fell off his horse, fractured his skull, and spent five days stranded outside Yosemite before being rescued by helicopter. The father of five children, Terence Hallinan was married to Lisa Streeter Hallinan. He died on 17 January 2020 at age 83 in San Francisco. Link to Wikipedia biography
