Hofmo Gunvor Biography

Norwegian poet often considered one of the most important modernist poets in her country. She started her literary career submitting poems for publication to a wide variety of presses, including the communist newspaper Friheten (The Freedom) and weekly magazines such as Hjemmet (The Home). One of her first published poems was dedicated to her close friend Ruth Maier, who, during the Holocaust, was arrested, deported, and killed in Auschwitz (in 1942), an event that by all accounts became the biggest and central tragedy in Hofmos life. She was hospitalized in 1943 for depression, starting a lifelong struggle with mental illness. In 1947 Hofmo met the poet Astrid Tollefsen. They moved in together, becoming one of the first Norwegian couples living in an openly lesbian relationship. They continued to live and travel together until Hofmo was incapacitated and committed due to mental illness. Hofmo was institutionalized at Gaustad Psychiatric Hospital, suffering from schizophrenia, paranoid type, from 1955 to 1971, leading to what was known as her "16 years of silence." Following her discharge, she went into a period of considerable productivity, publishing fifteen poetry collections between 1971 and 1994. From 1977 until her death she never left her apartment. Gunvor Hofmo died on 14 October 1995 in Oslo, aged 74. Link to Wikipedia biography

Hofmo Gunvor birth chart analysis for Ascendant

In Vedic astrology, the ascendant, or "lagna," represents one's self, personality, and overall life direction. When the natal lagna is in the Cancer sign, it signifies a person who is nurturing, emotional, and intuitive. Cancer is ruled by the Moon, which imbues the native with sensitivity, a strong attachment to family, and an inclination towards creating a secure home environment. These individuals often have a deep connection with their past and heritage, and they are known for their caring and protective nature. Aslesha nakshatra, which falls within the Cancer sign, adds a layer of complexity to the individual's personality. Aslesha is symbolized by the coiled serpent, indicating traits of wisdom, cunning, and the ability to navigate life's challenges with strategic thinking. Natives born under Aslesha are often introspective and possess a keen understanding of human psychology. They may also exhibit a strong willpower and a tendency towards secrecy or mystery. With the lagna lord, the Moon, placed in the 10th house in Aries, the native's emotional and nurturing qualities are directed towards career and public life. The 10th house is associated with profession, status, and reputation, suggesting that the individual is likely to be ambitious and driven in their professional endeavors. The presence of the Moon in Aries, a sign ruled by Mars, indicates a dynamic and pioneering approach to work. These individuals may excel in leadership roles and are not afraid to take bold initiatives. Furthermore, the placement in Aswini nakshatra, which is ruled by Ketu, suggests a pioneering spirit and a desire to be a trailblazer. Aswini natives are known for their healing abilities and are often drawn to professions in medicine or alternative healing. The combination of these placements indicates a career path where the native can use their nurturing qualities and leadership abilities to make a significant impact, potentially in fields related to healthcare, social work, or any profession that involves guiding and caring for others.
