Rigoberta Menchú Tum is a Guatemalan human rights activist and Maya K’iche’ leader who has dedicated her life to the protection of Indigenous rights, women’s rights, and social justice. She gained international prominence for advocacy during Guatemala’s civil conflict and became the first Indigenous woman from the Americas to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 1992.
