Who is Rancillac Bernard?

French painter and sculptor noted as one of the founders of the Narrative Figuration movement, in 1964. He was highly interested in politics, a subject that influences his work. Rancillac began his career as a drawing teacher, and later studied print making under S.W. Hayter. In 1961 he was awarded a prize in painting at the Paris Biennale. One of his five brothers, Paul, also became a sculptor and is known as Jean-Jules Chasse-Pot (1933-2010). Bernard Rancillac died on 29 November 2021 at age 90 in Malakoff, France.
