Richman Jonathan Biography

American singer, songwriter and guitarist who founded the band Modern Lovers in 1970, an influential proto-punk band. One critic called him the "Godfather of Punk". Artists as diverse as the Sex Pistols and Joan Jett have covered his song "Roadrunner". He began playing guitar at age 15 and earning praise for his talent. Modern Lovers released several albums. In 1983 he released his first solo album and in the 80s touched his fans with several additional releases. One reviewer says of him, "Witty, fresh, innocent and enormously fun, a true maverick, nobody can come up with song titles as wacky as Jonathans or sing songs about seemingly trivial, nonsensical subjects and sound so real."
